Neighbors Working Together in a Partnership with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office can make one of the best crime-fighting teams around!!

Crime Prevention Specialist Darlene Schnoor was our guest speaker, and Deputy Scott shared his expertise in answering questions on CRIME PREVENTION techniques to secure your home, valuables, & personal safety.

The initial training meeting was extremely successful, and had approximately 20 community neighbors that participated in the meeting.

Here are the team’s initial initiatives established which are moving forward in process:

– 20 Street Captain’s are being established in support of 8 – 10 homes.
– The Street Captain’s are gathering neighbors of interest to create an email message tree.
– We will be securing and installing 8 Neighborhood Watch signs to be posted through out our community.
– We will be having ongoing frequent meetings with the Sheriff’s Dept. which we will be announcing.

Crime Alert – Recent Break-ins

Community Alert
There have been TWO break-ins and FOUR attempted, here in Arbor Ridge in the last two months.
All have occurred along Diamondback and Gold Canyon.
ABOUT THIS CRIME:
The offenders are gaining entrance to our homes during the day time. They are targeting empty houses by watching cars leave. They have entered the homes through the backyard. One offender cut the screen out of the master bath upstairs, and then opened the window. The other home had the sliding glass door smashed in. In a couple cases of the attempted break-ins, they rung the doorbell and knocked to be sure nobody was at home. The items stolen were ones that they can easily carry including money, gold and jewelry. One of the attempts happened after midnight while others occurred during daytime.

OFFENDERS:
One offender is described as a white male, medium build, 30-40 years of age, approximately 5’10” tall he was wearing a light, bright blue jacket.
The other offender is described as a white male, bald, and shorter. Approx. 5’2”.
A suspect has a white pickup truck and was soliciting for gutter cleaning services.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
• Secure all your windows and doors
• Record information on suspicious person(s), vehicle(s) or activity in your neighborhood.
• Call 911 if you see any break-ins taking place. Do not confront the offenders.
• Be aware of this situation and alert neighbors in the area about any crime.

The Next Home Owners Meeting we will be having a Washington County Sheriff in addition we have asked a couple of home owners to attend that want to talk about this.  Please attend to discuss the safety in our neighborhood.

Slow Children At Play

Slow Children At Play
Slow Children At Play

The HOA has purchased and placed a few Slow Children At Play signs in the neighborhood.  Signs have been placed on the West and East end of NW Emerald Canyon Drive near the Park.  Additional signs have also been placed on NW Oak Creek Drive between NW West Union Road and NW Arizona Drive.

If you are aware of another area that would benefit from placement of these signs please let the Management Office know or email the Board and we can look into adding additional signs.

We want our neighborhood to be safe for our kids and neighbors.

Annual Election and Proxy Forms

Recently all Home Owners received a letter from our Management Company containing a proxy form and information on the upcoming Annual Meeting on October 26th 2009.  It is really important that if you can not attend the annual meeting that you send the proxy form back in the postage paid envelope.  Last year it took three mailings and meetings to get a quorum of Home Owners in order to move forward with day to day business.  These extra mailing cost you as Home Owners $700 per a mailing.

We would really like to see the Home Owners attend the Annual Meeting so that you can have input on the members of the Board, find out what is occurring in your neighborhood and provide feedback as an Arbor Ridge Home Owner.

If you are interested in running for a Board Position please contact Nick Horn at The Management Group (see the contacts page) .  We are also looking for people to be involved with the Social Committee, Neighborhood Watch Committee, Architectural Review Committee, Newsletter Committee and Landscape Committee.  Please let us know by emailing us, contacting Nick Horn or attending the Annual Meeting.

If you have any questions about the Annual Meeting please contact Nick Horn at The Management Group.
