Oregon Senate passes PERS reform bill - Thu, 23 May 2019
The Oregon Senate on Thursday passed reforms to the state's troubled Public Employees Retirement System by a vote of 16 to 12. The measure addresses PERS' spiraling costs to public employers mainly by extending the period over which its $27 billion debt is repaid. It also shifts a portion of the contributions employees pay into individual accounts that will go toward pension costs.
